So far the Airless application with its generally high pressures was quite difficult and causes technical problems with regard to the exact compliance of the mixing ratio äs well äs pulsation-free metering of two components having such extremely different flow volumes like 98:2 material have. Therefore, the manufacturer tricked and was using the 50:50 (1:1) preparation of material components which is easier to control. However before application you had to premix one of the two components with catalyst.
The disadvantages are well known:
• Necessity of two large material Containers.
• The premixed component Starts with a partial curing and äs a result the material will become useless after some time, depending on the temperature. In addition you will have problems during application, non-conformity of applications depending on howfar the curing process has advanced and - what often happens - the material becomes useless.
• In case you cannot apply the ready mixed material supply in the storage Container you have to remove the same out of the machine within the limit of the highly varying storage stability. This means great consumption of solvent for cleaning the Container, pumps and pipes.
• Possibility to interchange erroneously the components during refilling of the storage Container resulting in instant curing of the Container filling. |

HOFMANN has overcome the technical problems:
Every HOFMANN Airless machine can be equipped or upgraded to the new 2-component cold spraying 98:2 system without any problems.
Equipments contain a security system to automatically shut down the pump on intolerable material fluctuations, and a catalyst container (20 l).
In order to prevent the catalyst from becoming useless during a long standstill of the machine at permanent high temperatures the catalyst container can easily be removed and kept under cool conditions.
